Overview
The Government of Lesotho is implementing the Smallholder Agriculture Development Project (SADP) with financial support from the World Bank and the International Fund for Agriculture Development (IFAD). The Project Development Objective (PDO) is to ‘increase marketed output among project beneficiaries in Lesotho’s smallholder agriculture sector’. Two major outcomes are expected that would lead to achieving the PDO: (a) Agricultural market opportunities in the program area increased; and (b) Productivity and quality of market-focused crops and livestock from smallholders in the project area increased. APPSA aims to increase the availability of improved technologies through establishing the regional centers on commodities of regional importance, and supporting regional collaboration in agricultural research, technology dissemination and training and facilitating increased shared information, knowledge and technology transfer. |
