Agricultural Research

Department of Agricultural Research (DAR) is one of the seven departments of MAFS. DAR is mandated to generate, adapt and transfer agricultural technologies and scientific knowledge and to provide relevant services for both subsistence and commercial farmers and other stake- holders for sustainable development of agriculture; while preserving the natural resource base- in accordance with national agricultural development policies and strategies. DAR’s mandate covers crops, livestock, natural resources, food and nutrition, agricultural engineering and socio-economics and extension divisions.
